Mary Robinson

A Centre Built on Legacy and Action

A world-class centre using Mary Robinson’s life and work to inspire leadership, scholarship and social change.

The Mary Robinson Centre, located in her family home in the West of Ireland, follows in her footsteps, advocating and championing climate justice, human rights, biodiversity conservation, and humanitarian awareness through community action, education, and research. It will preserve the legacy of Mary Robinson as a presidential library, and museum, engage people in her archive and facilitate access for future generations by her example to make a positive impact in the world.

At its heart is the local community, combining grassroots initiatives with knowledge and expertise to tackle interconnected challenges. Through dialogue, shared learning, and inspiration, the Centre sparks action from local to global, highlighting the transformative power of women’s leadership.

Knowledge, Access and Inclusion

A world-class centre using Mary Robinson’s life and work to inspire leadership, scholarship and social change.

Mary Robinson’s extensive personal archive and memorabilia, gifted to University of Galway, will be displayed in exhibitions and study rooms, making this important collection accessible via digitisation.

The collection will be presented so as to engage a wide range of audiences from school groups to families, simultaneously facilitating deeper research by academics and university students. Inclusivity is at the core of the building design, which is universally accessible throughout.
